Marc Lou
Marc Lou (Marc Louvion) is a French maker who ships in public and sells to other makers: ShipFast, CodeFast, DataFast, and TrustMRR. He says he made about $3 million across 36 startups in ten years. That total is his, and it is a pile. A 2026 HYROX ad auction is a separate stunt with its own $112,000 board.
Marc Lou is the public portfolio. The name on the birth certificate is Marc Louvion. The work is a sequence of small products, posted while they are being made, sold mostly to people who watched him make them. This page is the map. It is not a recap of his free book, and it is not the $3 million story or the HYROX auction story. Those have the detail. Start there if you only read one.
What he says the decade adds up to
On 7 September 2026 he published a free book at book.marclou.com and stated the total on that page: about $3 million, 36 startups, roughly ten years, solo, bootstrapped, margins around 85%. The useful part is the count of attempts. Most of the 36 are not the products anyone names. A few carried the rest. He has said the book is a story meant to get people to start, not a formula. Read it from him if you want the failures in his voice.
A second total gets confused with that one. The January 2026 letter is titled around $1,032,000 for 2025. Inside it, investing had returned $147,000 and X had paid $14,339. It is a portfolio year, not software-only ARR, and not the ten-year pile. In that letter he also writes that an audience does not guarantee a successful startup. That line is the correction to his own era.
The products people mean
Product Hunt’s 2023 Maker of the Year note credits 14 launches that year. ShipFast, 31 August 2023, packaged the start of a SaaS: Next.js, login, Stripe, email. It became the breakout because the customer was standing there. Other makers wanted the shortcut.
The portfolio then leaned into tools for that same customer. DataFast for analytics. CodeFast for a coding course, with an Indie Hackers report of about $92,000 in two days after a 28 November 2024 launch — a spike, not a year. TrustMRR for verified revenue and a marketplace of startups for sale, started in his telling the morning after a 28 October 2025 complaint about fake screenshots. Sidebar ads, he wrote, made $20,378 in three days. Later he talked about a 3% acquisition fee.
In March 2026 he posted $78,120 for the month: TrustMRR $36,000, DataFast $21,000, ShipFast $9,200, CodeFast $8,300. He said AI had hurt the course and the boilerplate. The engine moved. Courses and tools on this site mention those lines so they are not repeated as if ShipFast were still the whole company. MRR is the wrong single word for a mix of subscriptions, ads, fees, and course sales. His recap is a month of cash and product lines, founder-reported.
The week he sold skin
In September 2026 he auctioned tattoo slots for a first HYROX race in İzmir. Doubling bids, refunds if you were knocked off, a closed sum of $112,000 on the slot API. He pointed at Jonathan Wilke’s outbid.lol as the parent idea. That week is attention as inventory. It is not evidence about ShipFast’s retention. Keep it on the bidding page, not in the SaaS benchmark.
What the record is for
Lou is the case for staying in the game after individual products die, and the case that the buyer was often another builder. Both are true. Copying “launch 36 times” without his distribution, or copying the boilerplate in a year when he says AI hurt it, misses the record. Build in public is the method. The newsletter is Just Ship It. The book is free. The numbers are his until a Stripe-connected page says otherwise, and even then they are one account.
